Goofy Geese is a Norwegian band from Bergen..[1]
The band released their debut EP Bouquet in 2022 and their album Gúfigis in 2024.[2] Both releases were produced by Vetle Junker, who was nominated for the Spellemann Award 2023 in the Producer of the Year category.[3]
The band is known for blending elements of Brazilian bossa nova with modern indie pop. Goofy Geese is signed to the Norwegian record label Jansen Records[4], and is managed by the music company, BIGBOY Management[5].
History
[edit]Goofy Geese was founded by Mats Jøger as a solo project, releasing the first single Above the Clouds in 2020. In 2021, Kaja Malena Håvik joined the project[6] after they met while studying music therapy at the Grieg Academy at the University of Bergen. Since then, the band has performed at Norwegian festivals such as VillVillVest (2022)[7], Havstrøm (2024)[8], and Høyden Festivalen (2024)[9]
Their international audience has grown significantly since the release of their EP, with the majority of their international listeners in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom on the streaming service Spotify.[10] Their tracks have appeared on major international Spotify playlists such as "Chill Vibes", "Late Night Vibes", "Fresh Finds", and "Fresh Indie Finds".[11]
In January 2025, the band performed on NRK-scenen, a mini concert series broadcasted on Norwegian state television. They performed the songs Bam Bam, Gooseberry, and a Norwegian interpretation of Herman's Hermits' song, There's a Kind of Hush, translated by Håvik and Jøger.[1]
